New ways to search the Herald Archives
1. The Schools Archive
Teachers and students have access to a 3-month archive of articles from The Sydney Morning Herald that can be searched by keywords or browsed by category.
2. The Google News: Advance News Archive
A project digitising the Herald newspaper archive has been undertaken with Google. The microfilm archive of The Sydney Morning Herald, Sun-Herald and Sydney Mail as well as The Age, from the first editions up until 1989, has been scanned and made available at your desktop in a searchable format via the Internet.
It's an amazing resource available free of charge that can be searched from the Google News Archive. To search the SMH simply enter "Sydney Morning Herald" into the "Source" field
